Layer 1

Flow

A multi-role chain for consumer apps, with Cadence and EVM.

Splits the work of a validator across collection, consensus, execution and verification nodes. Contracts are written in Cadence, a resource-oriented language, and Flow EVM runs Solidity contracts on the same network. Created by Dapper Labs, the team behind CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot.

How does Flow split work across node roles, and what are Cadence resources?

Collection nodes batch, consensus orders, a few heavy execution nodes run transactions and many light verifiers check chunks. Cadence resources are typed assets that can't be copied or lost, guarded by entitlements.
