Popular metaverse gaming project the Sandbox announced its metaverse accelerator program that will escalate the development of the open metaverse by investing $50M in startups.
The Animoca Brands subsidiary has partnered with the leading global venture accelerator firm Brinc with the aim to accelerate 30 to 40 blockchain startups a year. The program will invest up to US$250,000 in each startup. Top performers will also receive SAND tokens amounting to US$150,000 and LAND grants, along with follow-on investment.

"The core directive of The Sandbox Metaverse Accelerator Program is to support the launch of new startups that can contribute to the growth and expansion of The Sandbox ecosystem by building unique experiences and populating the platform with fresh creativity and new content". Wrote Brinc.
Applications are now open for startups to participate, and the first cohort is scheduled to start in Quarter2 2022. The Sandbox Metaverse Accelerator program runs within Launchpad Luna, the accelerator launched last year as a partnership between Brinc and Animoca Brands to support startups.
According to Brinc, this Program will support the open metaverse built on shared values and via open, transparent, decentralized governance. And, this will help replace the current paradigm of closed platforms, creating a more sustainable digital future.
Startups will get access to and support from high-profile mentors like Cathy Hackl of Futures Intelligence Group, Holly Atkinson (The Sandbox), Holly Liu (Kabam), Janine Yorio (Republic Realm), and more.
